AES Wind letter to Indiana landowners: Leases will lapse

AES Wind vice president Paul Burdick sent this letter to leaseholders in Clinton County, Indiana informing them that their leases will be permitted to expire. The letter affirms that AES Wind has no near-term plans to proceed with wind development in the area due to current market conditions, a lack of demand for their product, and new requirements imposed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service pertaining to the endangered Indiana bat.

Background and Purpose:
Vermont’s energy needs are growing while its future energy sources remain uncertain. At the same time, Agency lands are under ever-increasing pressure to serve more uses and needs. Part of meeting Vermont’s future energy needs will likely involve development of additional renewable energy sources in Vermont. The role of Agency of Natural Resource (ANR) lands in accommodating wind energy and other renewable energy projects has been the subject of recent public debate and is the focus of this policy.
Associated Industries of Massachusetts filed this appeal document before the Massachusetts Judicial Supreme Court in reference to the decision by the MA DPU to approve the negotiated contract between National Grid and Cape Wind Associates.

These comments prepared by Appalachian Mountain Club were submitted to the NH Site Evaluation Committee in reference to the committee's review of the proposed Groton Wind LLC wind energy facility to be located in Groton, New Hampshire. Groton Wind LLC is wholly owned by Iberdrola Renewables. The project will consist of twenty-four 2.0 megawatts turbines.
