On December 12, 2007, a special town meeting was held in Wilmington VT to determine the position the Selectboard should take on the Searsburg expansion project, also known as Deerfield Wind. The vote counts inserted below have been verified with the Wilmington Town Clerk.

ARTICLE 1: Voted to advise the Wilmington Selectboard to oppose the Deerfield Wind Project proposed for Searsburg and Readsboro.
51-YES  15-NO

ARTICLE 2: Voted to authorize the Selectboard to spend in Fiscal Year 08 up to $40,000 from this current fiscal year's General Fund to pay the costs for participating in the Public Service Board Intervening Party Status process regarding the Deerfield Wind Project proposed for Searsburg and Readsboro.
49-YES   14-NO

ARTICLE 3: Passed a non-binding resolution requesting that the Selectboard hold another town meeting, if the Selectboard becomes dissuaded from the intent of the vote on Article 1.
