CONCORD - The Site Evaluation Committee will hold a public meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, to consider motions for rehearing on a recent decision to allow a wind farm along a northern Coös ridge line.

The hearing will be held at the PUC's hearing room on Fruit Street in Concord, to consider - and potentially to rule on - various motions that were filed to rehear its decision to grant a Certificate of Site and Facility to wind farm developer Granite Reliable Power (GRP).

The SEC issued a Certificate with numerous conditions on July 15 that would allow GRP to erect 33 wind turbines, each with a 3-megawatt nameplate capacity, in Millsfield and Dixville.

On Aug. 14, just inside the 3-day appeal window, the state Fish and Game Department filed a motion for rehearing or amendment. That same day, motions for rehearing were also filed by GRP, Counsel for the Public Peter Roth of the state Attorney General's Office, and Lisa Linowes, executive director of the Industrial Wind Action Group (IWAG).

On Aug. 19, GRP filed a response to NHF&G's motion and an objection to motions filed by IWAG and Public Counsel Roth. On Aug. 24, NHF&G, IWAG, and Public Counsel Roth submitted additional filings.

The Sept. 28 meeting is designed to resolve these pending motions.

Oral argument may be heard from the various parties at that time at the discretion of the presiding officer, but no new evidence can be introduced.

If a rehearing is granted and a further hearing required, the SEC will issue an additional procedural schedule.

The SEC also suspended its decision to grant a Certificate of Site and Facility, pending its consideration of the outstanding motions.
